Have Fun with Design

This is much easier for writing audio players than it is for video players—video players have their shape dictated by the shape of the video, and you don’t want your controls to distract from the image.

But with audio players, at least, you really should be having fun with design. This is a chance to get creative.

This first audio player I made in Elm was a present for my dad. I have a raspberry pi hooked up to his record player, and whenever he plays a record, a one hour buffer of the audio is available on a web page with a player that looks like a cartoon record player.

It’s made in SVG and it’s animated. When the buffer is playing, the record spins. Moving the needle changes your location in the buffer. People really love this. I’m really proud of it.

Have fun with your audio player.

Current Elm Difficulty = Easy.

Design is really easy with packages like Elm-UI.
